The US is to sell $332.2 million worth of military equipment to the island nation amid China’s aggressive moves against Taiwan. The US Department of Defense’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency on Thursday approved foreign military sales at an estimated cost of $332.22 million. Taiwan has thanked the US State Department for this. The weapon package includes 30mm ammunition, vehicle parts and other items.
10th arms sales package for Taiwan
This is the 10th arms sales package to Taiwan under US President Joe Biden. The State Department has approved the sale of military equipment to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the US, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said.
China sent fighter jets again
China has again sent fighter jets to threaten Taiwan. A total of 24 Chinese fighter aircraft and five warships were spotted near Taiwan on Friday morning. China, which claims democratically-ruled Taiwan as its territory, often sends its fighter jets and warships to exert military pressure.
