A magnitude 6.7 earthquake has hit Japan’s Kyushu island. After this earthquake, Japan has issued a tsunami warning. This is the second major earthquake this year so far. Earlier, there was a devastating earthquake in Tibet.
Strong tremors were felt in southwestern Japan, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. Its magnitude is 6.7. No damage or loss of life has been reported so far from this earthquake.
According to the country’s meteorological agency, the earthquake struck at 9:19 pm local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was the southwestern island of Kyushu. A tsunami warning has been issued for the island as well as surrounding areas. Earthquakes occur frequently in Japan.
Earlier on January 7, an earthquake wreaked havoc in Tibet. 126 people were killed in the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake. About 188 people were injured.
More than 30 thousand people were evacuated to safe places in Tibet. In Shigatse alone, 3,609 buildings collapsed. The earthquake occurred in Dingri County, Tibet.
