The UAE has blacklisted 11 individuals and eight UK-based organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Besides, legal and financial sanctions have been imposed on them. The decision has been taken under the UAE’s anti-terrorism policies. However, Britain does not consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization and there is no ban on the organization in Britain.
Blacklisted by UAE Cabinet
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has blacklisted 11 people and 8 organizations based in the UK. He is accused of having links with the Muslim Brotherhood organization. UAE considers this organization to be terrorist. These people and organizations will face immediate legal and financial difficulties after being blacklisted by the UAE Cabinet. Under the UAE’s anti-terrorism policies, these individuals and organizations face travel bans, asset freezes and strict financial sanctions.
The blacklisted organizations include Cambridge Education and Training Center Limited, Wasla for All, Future Graduating Limited, IMA6IN Limited, Wembley Tree Limited, Yass for Investment and Real Estate, Whole UK Properties Limited and Nafeel Capital.
Blacklisted 11 rich citizens
UK organizations on the UAE blacklist range from real estate to education and media. Company records show that many of the directors and top executives of these entities are wealthy citizens. Britain has had a list of banned organizations for decades, including the Russian group Wagner and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Former Prime Minister Cameron expressed doubts about the Muslim Brotherhood
It may be noted here that a new investigation has started in Britain due to the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood. In August, former Communities Secretary Michael Gove said the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) was motivated by terrorism, although MAB denied any such links. However, in early 2015 former British Prime Minister David Cameron viewed any association with the Muslim Brotherhood as a possible sign of extremism.
What will happen if the UAE is blacklisted?
Once someone is blacklisted in the UAE, joining or supporting a group becomes a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Dozens of other countries have similar structures to combat extremist groups.
