On October 26, BJP leader Darakshan Andrabi called upon the youth to educate the public about the historical importance of Accession Day. This day marks the formal accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India in 1947.
Darakshan Andrabi, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board, emphasized the historic significance of Accession Day and urged the youth to actively participate in educating the masses about the importance of this day. She recalled that on October 26, 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession, a monumental step that was endorsed by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, formally merging the state of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of India.
Andrabi commended the decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to sign the Instrument of Accession as a bold and visionary step, one that has filled the people of Jammu and Kashmir with pride at being an integral part of the world's largest democracy. She underlined that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union of India was full and final, following the path taken by princely states in other parts of India during the post-independence era.
In her capacity as a Minister of State in the Jammu and Kashmir administration, Andrabi emphasized the importance of every citizen taking pride in the progress and development the region has witnessed since the accession, thanks to its status as an integral part of India. She called for the day to be celebrated as a festival, with each individual pledging to protect the unity and integrity of the state against any forces that may seek to undermine its connection with the rest of India.
Andrabi reiterated that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India is full and final, reinforcing the state's status as an integral and inseparable part of the Indian nation.
To mark Accession Day, the BJP organized a grand celebration at its headquarters in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, which saw the active participation of the Minority Mocha, Yuva Morcha, Kissan Morcha, and ST Morcha.
